Molly Born is a freelance journalist and multimedia producer based in Charleston. She is the Appalachia correspondent for Southerly, an online magazine focusing on justice, equality, and culture in the American South, and co-producer, researcher, and sound recordist on a forthcoming experimental documentary film about coal and its future in the region. In 2018, she was named an inaugural Report for America fellow, covering issues in the southern coalfields of West Virginia for West Virginia Public Broadcasting. She was named a finalist for the Livingston Award for her work on a joint project about water quality and access problems in Central Appalachia.
