When asked by Mountain State Spotlight “What’s one thing you want West Virginia voters to know about your platform?” the candidate replied:
My name is Michael Mosteller II, and I am running for House of Delegates for District
21 in Putnam County, WV. My wife and I, plus our two children, moved to Putnam County after watching the deterioration of the place I grew up in rural WV due to the Opioid Crisis and the failing education system.
After the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the West Virginia Legislature passed several pieces of
legislation aimed at restricting access to abortion. This is an example of the government telling citizens that they are unable to make decisions about their anatomy, their health, or their family. I want to restore the right of women to make their own reproductive choices.
I also believe that by restricting the rights of our citizens, the current legislature wants to
rule over West Virginians rather than represent them. I want to restore the power of the
legislature back to the people.
West Virginia is dead last in the nation in education. Our current legislature is focused
more on culture war nonsense than they are with fixing our public education system. They are planning to bring in private businesses to meddle in our public education system as a way to “fix” it. I was deeply inspired by 55 Strong and I believe we need to invest in our teachers and our schools in order to improve our education system. Remember, your vote counts. So go out there and make it count.
